The Holtronic neo® indicator is activated and applied to the product or packaging at the same packing station where the product is cartonised, filled or sealed. Monitoring begins at exactly the moment the product is packaged, without a separate downstream operation.
The self-adhesive backing on every neo® indicator makes inline application fast and reliable. Activation is a single press-and-hold that takes under five seconds adding negligible time to the packing cycle. For even higher throughput, Holtronic works with packaging machinery manufacturers to specify automated application and activation systems.
Design the LED display into the packaging — visible without opening
For primary and secondary packaging where the temperature status should be readable without opening the pack — by pharmacists at goods receiving, by clinicians at the point of care, or by consumers before use — the packaging can be designed with a die-cut window or transparent panel aligned with the neo® indicator’s LED display.
This transforms the packaging itself into the user interface for the monitoring system. The LED array is visible through the window at a glance — no opening, no reader device, no app. A green-only display confirms the product has remained within its temperature range throughout the journey. Any additional LED immediately communicates what happened and when.
Monitor sealed containers — retrieve data through the packaging wall
For hermetically sealed insulated shippers, validated cold boxes and packaging where opening before delivery is not possible or desirable, the neo® Blu provides a contactless solution. Positioned inside the sealed pack, the neo® Blu transfers its complete temperature log through the packaging material wirelessly. Without opening, without cables and without any network connectivity.
The receiving pharmacist, logistics supervisor or quality manager simply brings a smartphone close to the outside of the sealed package. The Holtronic app connects, showing the full breach history report within seconds before the pack is opened. This enables evidence-based acceptance or rejection decisions at the point of delivery, not hours later after the cold chain has already been broken.
