Press and hold the button for 1.5 seconds until the green “Power on” LED flashes three times. Once active, the
Power LED continues flashing every 8 seconds to confirm the unit is monitoring. DF gives a 30-minute start delay before recording begins, so handling temperature during packing doesn’t trigger a false alarm; DG and DH begin monitoring immediately.
Fix the indicator to the product, inner pack or outer carton and send it on its way. It needs no app, reader or
network connection — it samples temperature independently every 24 seconds for the length of the journey.
Press the button at any point to interrogate the LEDs and see the current status without disturbing the
monitoring cycle.
The moment a threshold is crossed for its set duration, the matching lettered LED (A–E) lights and flashes every 8 seconds. For example, DF’s “0” LED flags a single 10-minute dip below freezing, while its “8” LED flags a cumulative heat excursion above 8°C. Because the neo® Penta is non-reversible, once an LED activates it stays lit for the rest of the device’s active life. Nobody downstream can clear or reset it.
With the full LED record visible at a glance, receiving teams, drivers or QA staff can make an immediate
accept/reject decision on arrival. No equipment or software needed to interpret the result.
The Holtronic Data Viewer runs in a compatible web browser. Access remains subject to the organisation’s browser, USB and download policies.

neo Penta uses LED indicators to signal when temperatures drop below 0°C or 2°C, or rise above 8°C, after a 10-minute start delay. The device continuously monitors conditions and provides clear, irreversible alerts.
Hold the button for 1.5 seconds until the green Power LED flashes three times. That confirms activation and starts the countdown to monitoring immediately for DG and DH, or after a 30-minute start delay for DF.
It comes down to which temperature band each is tuned to. DF watches for a freeze event below 0°C and a heat excursion above 8°C — suited to 2–8°C pharmaceutical and chilled-goods cold chains. DG watches for excursions below 15°C and above 25/30°C, suited to ambient and controlled-room-temperature products. DH combines both a low floor (0°C/2°C) and a high ceiling (25°C/30°C) on one device.

A Battery Warning LED flashes every 8 seconds when the button is pressed, letting you know the unit is past its
monitoring window and should be retired. Unlike Holtronic’s resettable models, the neo® Penta is single-use and
isn’t designed to be reset for another cycle.
