Case Study

 Time and Temperature Monitoring

International indicator supplier Timestrip needed a completely new type of single use indicator, one that could be used in the Life Sciences, Food, Consumer goods and many other sectors.

The new product had to meet many requirements. It had to be small and light to allow it to be attached to a huge variety of products in transit and storage. It had to be more accurate than equivalent liquid-based indicators. It had to be versatile enough to cope with a wide range of time and temperature conditions. And it had to be low cost to allow its use on as wide a range of applications as possible.

The company recognised the need for a family of indicators that was more accurate than alternatives based on chemical processes, but simple to use by untrained personnel, and not as expensive nor complex as data loggers. Holtronic was tasked with the design and supply of a range of indicators, initially tuned to common user temperature ranges.

The resulting design met all expectations and has been incorporated into Timestrip’s range of indicators as a stock item with further bespoke alternatives.

Key features and benefits:
–       Accurate to 0.5C
–       Believed to be the smallest indicator in the industry
–       Easy to use and interpret
–       Cost effective

Holtronic’s design approach allowed for a complete family of indicators to be produced by altering the order configuration based on user requirements, resulting in shorter minimum order quantities and better production economics. The result was the exciting Timestrip neo range, now launched.
